During his eighteen year career as an attorney, Robinson has handled hundreds of police misconduct matters involving wrongful arrests and wrongful deaths at the hands of police officers.  He has also obtained multiple million dollar-plus settlements and verdicts in non-lethal police chase, accident, and shooting cases.  Furthermore, Robinson has successfully litigated several cases involving deaths of pretrial detainees in Detroit jails.

In the past, Robinson worked for the Detroit Police Department (DPD), both as an officer and as an attorney.  During his time with the DPD, he defended officers in civil litigation matters and taught the legal section of recruit training at the Detroit Metropolitan Police Academy.  He also held a teaching position with the Wayne State University Criminal Justice Department.

Currently, Robinson sits on the executive board of the Legal Redress Committee for the NAACP.   Additionally, he is a member of the Michigan Trial Lawyers Association (MTLA) and the National Lawyers Guild (NLG).  Previously, he served on the MTLA and NLG executive boards.  He has also lectured on police misconduct at seminars sponsored by Lorman Education Services, Professional Education Systems Institute, MTLA, NLG, and NPAP.
