California Supreme Court Uphelds Court of Appeal Decision re Attorney Billing Records

In County of Los Angeles v. Superior Court (Anderson-Barker), 211 Cal.App.4th 57 (2012), the court of appeal held that municipal agencies had to produce their attorney billing & payment records for PENDING litigation, not only closed litigation. Using California’s Public Records Act, interested parties can find out how much in taxpayer funds the municipal defendant pays her attorney and the hours the attorney has spent representing the municipal defendant.

On 2/20/13, the California Supreme Court (a) denied review; (b) denied request for depublication in re County of Los Angeles v. Superior Court (Anderson-Barker).
